Some testimonials to various Matt Palmer Jazz Ensembles

Dear Matt,
May I thank you for the excellent jazz session you gave at my party last Saturday. So many people thanked me for hiring you to play jazz, and they all said how much they thoroughly enjoyed your playing. Will you please convey our thanks also to your colleagues. From Irenes and my point of view your playing was the icing on the cake, and certainly made our party swing, and I know it will be a talking point in the future.
Thanks once again.
Regards Irene and Derek

Hi,
This is very delayed but I hired the Backyard Music Boys for my wedding on the 4th of September and i just wanted to say a massive thank you. They were fantastic and all guests commented on how great they were. Thank You!

Hi Matt,
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the guys for their performance on Saturday - it was superb and really made the event! Many guests commented on how good they were and how much they enjoyed the evening. Please pass on my thanks.

Dear Matt,
That was impressively quick. I have just opened up to thank you for giving everyone a great treat last night. Very pleased that you can make it again on the 1st November, I will be happy to sponsor it again. It makes a great combination, yourself and Ben. I think he enjoys having you to play alongside and also very importantly you bring variety to the programme. You certainly know your music.
We will be along a week today, god willing!!.
So see you then
David

Hi Matt,
THANK YOU!! Last night was a huge success. Everyone loved you guys. In fact, some of the third year musicians loved you and they are a tough crowd to please, I can tell you that, I will recommend you to anyone I know organizing a society's ball.
Once again, Thank you!
All the best,
Alison Ridley

Dear Matt & The Eagles,
We just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you for doing such a grand job when you played at our wedding in June at Grafton Manor. You were friendly, brilliant to listen to and you even managed to dress in green which matched our wedding colour! We knew that a jazz version of the Wedding March would work well but hearing you play this as Sam walked down the aisle was just magic! It was a real surprise for our guests’ it set a fun and lively tone for the day and will be memory that will stay with us forever. We are looking forward to re-living the experience when we get the wedding DVD. Although we missed a lot of your performance on the lawn (as we were having our photos taken), we know that our guests were thoroughly impressed with you on the day and enjoyed the jazz. We will be keeping an eye on website and next time you play locally we will be able to come along and see you play again.
Thanks again you were brilliant.
Sam & Chris

Dear Matt,
I was the white-haired geriatric late last Saturday night who asked you for your card...which was immediately mislaid when I tried to shepherd people into my car...However Bob Williams has given me your e-mail address...I have a notable birthday on 2nd. August 2011 (provided I live that long!) and will be having some sort of 'do' at a local venue. It will have to be on Friday August 5th. 2011 or Saturday Aug. 6th. I would very much like to use the services of your band for entertainment, so this initial enquiry is to ascertain availability...and (equally importantly) price. I know you can offer 'part-groups' but I think my wife and I would like the full six-piece ensemble, Perhaps you would be so kind as to advise details and take this as a tentative booking on whichever date is most convenient please. Might I say how much our party enjoyed last Saturday evening. Your band surpassed itself. How rare to be able to hear each instrument so distinctly...and I thought the more-than-usual number of vocals enhanced the proceedings! Everybody was a virtuoso - particularly the young man on three saxes and clarinet....and no doubt you had a baritone stashed away somewhere as well...Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards Ken

Review of Canal Street CD by George Giles

The Millennium Eagle Jazz Band was reformed six years ago and five of the present line-up have been with the band ever since. This is evident when one listens to the superb ensemble playing which has been honed to perfection during their time together. As for the solos, superb playing from the five very experienced musicians, each a master of his instrument.

The newcomer is the phenomenal young drummer Jack Cotterill who at the time of this recording was probably under sixteen years old! Having seen him at a live session, it is almost unbelievable what he does with his sticks and it comes through strongly on this C.D., especially on “China Boy”. The opening number, “Fidgety Feet” sets the standard which is unfaltering trough to the finale, “Wolverine Blues”, ten great standards played with verve and enthusiasm, guaranteed to get feet tapping and three vocals nicely interspersed make this a C.D. well worth listening to.

Thoroughly recommended as a good buy, it’s available at the band’s sessions or direct from Matt Palmer by phoning him on 0115 921 2464.
